Let’s get right into it! Here are the items I received in this fix via Lisa a Stitch Fix stylist:
Item 1 – Navy Andrew Marc Travis Dress ($138 – RETURNED)
Although, I love Andrew Marc dresses and have owned a few in the past, this dress definitely missed the mark. I asked for pencil-shaped skirts and dresses since flared ones only tend to enhance my hips, so the bottom half fit well. However, I also asked for a defined waist and this one clearly covers the waist and creates a boxy, matronly looking shape. This did not flatter someone like me with a larger bust and wider hips. It was returned.
Item 2 – Gold Bancroft Kaitland Spade Charm Long Necklace ($36 – RETURNED)
I really wanted to like this necklace, but up close, it looked too cheap for the price and it didn’t lay very nicely when I put it on. It was returned.
Item 3 – Light Grey Brixton Ivy Coco Swiss Dot Lattice Detail Blouse ($68 – RETURNED)
Although grey colors usually wash me out, I was excited when I first pulled this out of the box. I’m a sucker for polka dots, and this looks different from other blouses I have. However, when I tried this on, it was very fitted to my surprise. It seemed medieval looking and the vertical lattice stripes were not flattering when it was that tight across my bust and stomach. It was also returned.
Item 4 – Dark Blue Mavi Gold Ruxin Distressed Boyfriend Jean ($88 – RETURNED)
I liked the dark color, and I don’t have any distressed jeans. However, the shape of these boyfriend jeans were NOT flattering on me. I am biased, I really don’t like the boyfriend fit in general. They were the right size, but very low rise, hitting just above my butt so I couldn’t comfortably sit. And then they were baggy in the leg. Combined that with the crop, and this jean made me look very short and wide. The distressed horizontal lines across the thigh didn’t help either. This was a definite return.
Item 5 – Coral Collective Concepts Rilo Button-Up Blouse ($68 – KEPT)
Out of all the items, this one fit and matched my style the best. It is a typical henley button-up blouse with blue speckles. There’s a slight sheen to the fabric so it looks a little dressier. I love coral, and I have a shirt from the Loft that is similar. However, the speckles and fabric made it different enough for me to keep it and not let my $20 credit go to waste. I’ll get a lot of use out of it. It was a keeper!
February 2015 Stitch Fix Summary
Overall, I was a little disappointed by my first fix. From what I’ve researched, this is common. Usually, it gets better after a few fixes so they can really learn your style. I had asked for a colored blazer and something fun for an upcoming vacation. The blazer was never mentioned in the stylist’s note back to me, and the jeans I received were supposedly the only thing she provided for my trip. I gave very thorough notes in my style profile and spent a lot of time pining items from their blog that I liked on Pinterest. However, I don’t think very much time, if any, was spent reviewing it. I’m hoping my March 2015 Stitch Fix #2 is better.
